Florida Nursing Continuing Education Requirements

RN Requirements
- 30 hours of continuing education every two years, including:
  - 2 hours on medical error prevention
  - 2 hours on Florida nursing laws and rules
  - 2 hours related to human trafficking
- Initial renewal
  - 1 hour related to HIV/AIDS
- Every four years
  - 2 hours on recognizing impairment in the workplace
- Each third renewal period
  - In addition to the 24 hours, 2 hours on domestic violence
LPN Requirements
- 24 hours of continuing education every two year, including:
  - 2 hours related to medical error prevention
  - 2 hours on Florida nursing laws and rules
  - 2 hours related to human trafficking
- Initial renewal
  - 1 hour related to HIV/AIDS
- Every four years
  - 2 hours on recognizing impairment in the workplace
- Each third renewal period
  - In addition to the 24 hours, 2 hours on domestic violence

Successful completion of required Florida courses requires achieving a 70% or higher on the posttest, submitting an evaluation, and attestation of reading the course content.
